NOTE: Confederate records were handwritten. Often the spelling of names was done by the soldier who wrote the record. Spelling of names were often what ever that man thought the spelling should be. Even if he asked a soldier how to spell his name that soldier if of little education did not know the correct spelling. Where you see in these rosters the marks [ ] with a letter inserted it suggests a possible different spelling such as "KA[Y]LE" meaning it could be "Kale" or "Kyle" etc. (If you find errors in these rosters let us know).
